Bluebird Project
Our Bluebird trail at Riverside Lakes is part of a nationwide program to increase habitat for bluebirds.
Nebraska is one of the leading states in this successful effort.
Over 100 baby bluebirds have been fledged in the 20 to 24 houses during the past two years.
Volunteers willing to monitor the houses and help in other ways are always welcome
Active nestboxes are protected by both federal and state laws. According to the Federal Game Warden:
"disturbance of these boxes are punishable by up to a $10,000 fine and six months in jail."
